Arts top in Russian crowdfunding

Crowdfunding – collecting money online for artistic, business, social or charitable projects – is becoming more popular in Russia. The examples of the anti-corruption website RosPil and the Internet publication Colta.ru are inspiring budding businessmen and civil activists to search for supporters on the Net.

The name makes the project

Creative projects are the permanent leaders of crowdfunding, both worldwide and in Russia. The majority of well-known Russian resources are not specialized, but users often float ideas related to artistic creation, rather than start-ups or charity. For example, at Planeta.ru, in the sections Music, Video, Theater, Photography and Art, there are 40 projects, but in the sections Games and IT, one, and in Charity, five. On Boomstarter, there is one successful project in Technology, with all the rest in arts.
