Creating New Paths For Healthcare

Crowdfunding, the newest trend in fundraising, has been used to raise money for nearly every type of project or idea imaginable. According to Time’s recent story “Crowdfunding a Cure,” medical crowdfunding campaigns are now the number one source of traffic to GoFundMe, a site that operates much like Indiegogo. Now, it’s gaining notoriety for helping finance expensive medical treatments. One such campaign has come to Fullerton in the form of “Brandon’s Smile.”

After living on the streets for six years, Brandon Etheridge recently found a place to call home and a family of his own here in Fullerton. Although his daily needs are now met, one substantial issue still looms: Etheridge’s dental health. Like many people who have lived on the streets, simple daily activities like eating or brushing his teeth leave Etheridge have left him in pain, and doctors have stated he is in need of extractions and root canals, among other procedures.
