Greg Puciato Of The Dillinger Escape Plan On Crowdfunding: “I Don’t Relate To That Mindset At All”

Greg Puciato is lead singer of popular hardcore act The Dillinger Escape Plan, and he had some pointed words about the crowdfunding space as it relates to artists and musicians. He basically makes an argument that asking for money as a prerequisite to making art is against the idea of what it is to make art.

I feel like if you’re an artist and you’re pandering that hard to your audience, it’s like saying “Hey, I’m not going to make art unless I can guarantee that people are going to buy it…” I don’t relate to that mindset at all.Greg Puciato

What do you think? Does Puciato have a point? Watch the entire conversation below. We start it where the discussion on Kickstarter picks up, but the entire interview is interesting to watch for insight into the music industry in general.
