Coming from Montreal, Quebec, is another entry into the wearable tech / health monitoring boom. Hexoskin claims to be the first wearable movement, respiration and heart activity tracker – all integrated into a shirt packed with sensors wirelessly connected to your smartphone.
Hexoskin set an initial goal of raising $100,000 and is just about there – raising over 95% of that amount in the first two weeks of their campaign.
Hexoskin was co-founded by CEO Pierre-Alexandre Fournier. The product has been incubated for years now and the wearable tech is finally ready for the world and they are crowdfunding on 
Indiegogo. Recently Pierre-Alexandre had the opportunity to pitch his crowdfunding campaign to the Indiegogo crew when they swung by Montreal as part of their Canadian outreach tour.
The “smart shirt” allows the wearer to track a variety of metrics including: ECG, heart rate, breathing rate plus volume, activity level, steps and more. The shirt may also be used to measure and monitor your sleep efficiency. The accompanying Hexoskin personal training app allows the wearer to program training plans, display real time data, leverage GPS training tools. And yes, of course – the shirt is washable.
Hexoskin has lined up an impressive list of beta testers. Some on the hook to try out their shirt include:
- The Canadian Space Agency
- Multiple Olympic Athletes
- Professional Hockey Players
And several research teams from multiple universities including MIT AgeLab, McGill & Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.- Plus some everyday people who simply want to live a health life
There is an open API so any developers may access the data to create their own integrated applications. They are even considering a water proof version which is excellent for Iron men / triathlete competitors.
The campaign has over three weeks to go. Early bird rewards quickly sold out but there are still rewards available with estimated shipping to occur in February 2014.
