This past week we received a ton of really cool and interesting campaigns. I am still sorting through the emails and flagging projects for review – we may be at a point where we need to expand the column. Every campaign we feature we believe there is something unique or different with the approach or product. I continue to be amazed by everyone who goes down the crowdfunding path to finance their dream.
Today we are going to start with Ledge Pants. Yes I watched the pitch video and thought I need several pairs of these pants. Originating in Seattle, Washington, Peter Kirk created this product out of personal recognition that he wanted pants that were very durable and stain proof. Yep – go ahead and spill that glass of wine over these pants and it just bounces off (I need this). Plus they are extremely durable. The pants are made in the United States but the material was sourced from Switzerland. So if you need a pair pants which are equally appropriate in the office or climbing rock walls – this is for you.
Tilted Barn Brewery hails from Exeter, Rhode Island. This project finds it origins in a commercial hop farm, Ocean State Hops, that supplies hops to local breweries as well as home brewer hobbyists. Of course one thing leads to another and a passion for hops pretty much means a passion for beer and now Matt Richardson and his wife Kara want to start Rhode Island’s first farm brewery. The goal is to use local ingredients to create awesome beer and become the next micro-brewery hit. All they need are some funds to convert their historic barn into a brewery.

Ledge Pants is releasing The Pants: stainproof pants that are more durable than your jeans, but don’t look like it.
The Story
Over the past few years, Peter destroyed many pairs of pants. Climbing, cycling, and the occasional spilled cup of coffee made cleaning stains, fixing tears, and buying replacements all-too-common of a ritual. One day, after having enough, he decided it was time for something different.
Water and Stain Resistance
The inside of The Pants are breathable and wick away sweat, while the outside repels water and stains. In fact, anything from apple juice to wine will slide right off as if The Pants were made of glass. If anything does start to soak through, it will be wicked away promptly. Making Waves in the Ocean State’s Beer Scene
In 2007 Matt Richardson and Joel Littlefield founded Ocean State Hops, Rhode Island’s first commercial hop farm. As the website at www.oceanstatehops.com says, these homebrewing brothers-in-law are fueled by a passion to cram as many hops into each batch of beer as humanly possibly and supply other brewers looking to quench their thirst for hops. Tilted Barn Brewery will be located in the historic barn on our farm in Exeter, Rhode Island, which has been in Kara’s family for over 50 years. Our mission is to expand upon the success of Ocean State Hops and not only provide locally grown hops but also provide local, hand-crafted beer that is brewed with ingredients grown right here on the farm. Visitors to the farm brewery will be able to tour the barn brewery, enjoy samples in the tasting room, and walk around the farm to see the ingredients that will go into each batch of beer. Not only will you be able to see the beer being brewed, but you’ll be able to see what goes into each batch as it grows.
