WATCH: Two Rappers Used Kickstarter To Shoot A Music Video In North Korea

pacman-and-pesoNorth Korea is known as the “hermit kingdom” in part for the regime’s general disdain for western culture. So, imagine my shock when I came across this music video from two Washington DC rappers shot in North Korea.

How did they do it? It started with a $10,400 raise on Kickstarter that closed on September 29th, 2013. The duo piggybacked on an already-planned trip to North Korea led by Young Pioneer Tours, and they brought a camera.

While Pacman and Peso could just release the tracks they have created on the internet and hope for the best, they understand that to be successful you have to do things the right way. This means mixing and mastering all of their work and, most importantly, creating a buzz, which is extremely difficult to achieve. Serendipity has brought about a rare opportunity for the duo to join a one-of-a-kind trip to North Korea where they will be able to shoot a music video that will showcase their talent and create a buzz for themselves.

The result is incredible. Watch the video below, and do yourself a favor by making it to the end. You don’t want to miss the last five seconds…
