Watch by William Shatner Closes on Indiegogo Raising Over $680,000

Asteroid Dusted Watch Blasts Crowdfunding Goal.

Passages Watch Asteroid DustCrowdfunding on Indiegogo, “Passages” watch by Star Trek star William Shatner and partner Egard Watches closed on Indiegogo this past week having raised $681,721 on a goal of $75,000.  This represents a 900% beat of the original fundraising objective.  Backers numbered 2034 with the majority reserving one of the various versions of the Passages watch with some being delivered this coming March.  The company behind the campaign will continue their pretail offering on their company web site with all products being available with the exception of the box set which was a reward level of $550 (106 out of 115 were claimed).  Purchase price of the watches increased in price after the campaign closed.

Ilan and Peter SruloviczThe watch was created in collaboration with William Shatner and the owner of Egard Watches.  In a fitting fashion the watch was “dusted” with authentic asteroid dust, includes an engraved signature of Shatner on the caseback, and had automatic movements.  Egard marketed the piece as a collectible watch at a wholesale price.

The partnership with Shatner came about when became interested in some of the Egard watches.  A conversation about watches became a collaboration to create a unique timepiece that Shatner would endorse and aid in the design.

Egard watches debuted in 2012 and according to their web site it is a partnership between Ilan Srulovicz and his father Peter.  He designed his first watch to honor their relationship.

Limited Edition Passages WatchEgard utilized the services of Agency 2.0 to help with the crowdfunding campaign.  The agency specializes in Kickstarter and Indiegogo crowdfunding campaigns and boasts multiple high – profile campaign successes in their portfolio.  The well structured campaign used a referral program where top referrers had the chance to win a free watch.  Referring 6 supporters and you would receive a free Passages watch.  Non-backers were encouraged to participate in the program as well.
