California Brewery Moves On From Kickstarter Failure

Oak Park Brewery Co 1It may have failed on Kickstarter, but that isn’t stopping California-based Oak Park Brewing Co. from creating a crowdfunding campaign on its own website. While waiting for permits from the city of Sacramento, the company attempted to raise $30,000 on the Kickstarter platform earlier this year

The brewery, which prides itself on using only local ingredients, had an unfortunate experience with the crowdfunding website after only receiving $14, 412 during the 30 day campaign.

Although the brewing company managed to receive almost half as much as what it was hoping for, Kickstarter only transfers contributions if the the crowdfunding goal is achieved. So the company decided it was time to take matters into its own hands.

Oak Park Brewery Co 2Co-owner of the brewery Tom Karvonen revealed so far the new campaign has raised more than $7,000 since it started on April 3rd, just a day after the Kickstarter campaign ended. The funds raised are to help furnish the interior, provide pint glasses for the bar and an outdoor beer garden.

Oak Park Brewing Co. is scheduled to open at 3514 Broadway sometime this summer. Much like those who supported the Kickstarter campaign, each backer will be offered rewards such as a list on the thanks board, stickers, pint glasses, shirts and key rings.
