Micro Phone Lens Campaign Doubles Its Goal on Kickstarter

Sharing an exciting update about its recent crowdfunding campaign with Kickstarter, Creator of the  Micro Phone Lens Thomas Larson announced it more than doubled its $50,000 goal. The lens’ features include a more powerful and conventional microscop; works with any device with a 5 Megapixel or greater camer; scratch-proof and durable; self-adheres directly to a device’s camera.

While noting the reason they choose Kickstarter for the campaign’s platform, Mr. Laron stated, “Kickstarted is a beautiful way to bring ideas into reality. It’s truly amazing that people from across the globe can come together to make a project happen.”

Andrew LarsonMentioning his previous success on Kickstarter with his Micro Phone Lens 15x, Mr. Larson said, “I’m coming to Kickstarter again to ask for funding, specifically to acquire the manufacturing equipment needed to make the lenses. The optical tolerances needed for this lens are technically demanding, and the equipment is expensive. Funding will also go towards fulfilling and shipping rewards.”

Backers that donated a certain amount received some rewards including a carrying case, illumination source, and prepared specimen slides. Mr. Larson graduated from the University of Washington in 2013 and began working on the Micro Phone Lens in early 2012, in the Cell Biomechanics Lab under Professor Nathan Sniadecki.The lens represents the “culmination of his dream of makinga cell phone based microscope that is both affordable, and comparable to a professional ‘scope.”
