UK Fashion Label Rupert & Buckley Seeks £100,000 from Seedrs Campaign

Moving forward with its expansion plans, upmarket student fashion label Rupert & Buckley is seeking to raise £100,000 during its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. Based in the UK, the company stands for “quality products, long lasting quality, clothing that represents what it is to be someone from the UK today with traits of the British history.”Rupert & Buckley

Founder and director of the company James Buckley Thorp told Insider the money would help the private equity-based business set up its first permanent shop, with sites in Bath and Bristol currently under construction.

The clothing company sells rugby shirts, socks and other fashion items to teenagers, younger adults and sports teams. Its currently in the midst of preparing for its Spring/Summer 2014 collection release, which will introduce more apparel including blazers, t-shirts, shirts, chinos, etc.

The company notes all apparel is sold to self-hosted events in university towns, Rupert & Buckleyshowpiece events, online and through brand ambassadors. While explaining how Seedrs investment would help the company, Mr. Thorp stated, “The funding will help us to establish a long-term presence in the South West, probably in Bath but we’re also considering Bristol. We’ve got one site shortlisted for each city.”

He continued, “The funding will allow us to establish ourselves and say this is where we’re based. It’ll be our office and our office and our first stepp and where we host our music events. We want to show that South West businesses can be proud of where they’ve come from and don’t have to be based in London.”

While Bristol may be in the running for a new store location, the company’s pitch reveals Bath will continue to remain the central location for the brand. “Our location allows us to better serve our target customers as our market audience are ages 13-28. Therefore we focus on university-based cities and towns.

The campaign kicked off last week and has currently raised a total of £9,130.
