Brief: Crowdfunder UK Launches Live Crowfunding Event from the Eden Project in Cornwall

UK’s reward-based crowdfunding platform, Crowdfunder UK, is hosting an online event at the Eden Project on Friday (September 12th) between 7 – 8pm. Three crowdfunding projects, all foodie start-ups, will battle it out to gain support and funding from the crowd, both in the live audience and all those watching online, for their businesses. The project that receives the most support will win the endorsement of the event’s sponsors; River Cottage, Eden Project and the Cornwall Food Foundation.

CrowdfunderThe three foodie start-ups include food activists, Snact, seaweed connoisseurs, Atlantic Seaweed, and the tomato-loving Cornish Ketchup Company. They have been building support for their ideas in the run-up to the event using Thunderclap – an online service that will send out a message from everyone that’s joined across social networking site Twitter during the live event, reaching a much larger audience than normal. The total reach for Crowdfunder Live is almost 1 million people.

Presenting the live event is Steven Lamb, Head of Brand at River Cottage, alongside a panel of experts; Tim Smit, Co-founder of the Eden Project, Gill Meller, Head Chef at River Cottage HQ and Matthew Thomson of the Cornwall Food Foundation, will all be on hand to give help and advice to the three projects.

Phil GeraghtyPhil Geraghty, MD of Crowdfunder stated, “We’re really proud to be working with such innovative brands in the food industry for Crowdfunder Live – our first live-streamed crowdfunding broadcast. The event will not only create incredible exposure for the projects who are crowdfunding on the night, but will also inspire others to crowdfund their own great ideas.”
