According to People Magazine, NMC launched last Monday (October 20th), with the Romantic Era, a pop group from Pennsylvania, as its first partner. The band’s leader, Connor, stated, “As an artist, you dream of having your music on national TV. We are so humbled by the opportunity to be on such a unique platform and so pumped that millions of people will be able to hear our music and our story – that’s really why we make music: be to heard.”

The new channel noted, in order to be eligible for a profile on its website, each musical act must have the following:

  • 50,000 social media followers
  • music video of broadcast quality
  • 8 music tracks from which to cut an album

In its mission statement, NMC is described as a channel that helps musicians launch and fund their careers by removing the bindings of traditional music industry practices. Through innovative integration of various social media platforms and national television exposure, the channel drives dedicated fans to an interactive televised channel where their favorite emerging artists play their music videos 24 hours a day.

The Romantic EraThis innovative and revolutionary approach will change the music industry forever by taking the power out of the boardroom and putting it in the hands of the artists and their fans. Thriving as a new, up-and-coming music artist will finally be a financial reality.

New Music Channel is a great opportunity for the over 500,000 independent musicians currently restricted to YouTube exposure. It empowering them to monetize their music and gain nationwide exposure by focusing their dedicated social media followers to a new television channel where Kickstarter meets early MTV.

New Music Channel features a six hour block of original programming, repeated 3 times every weekday:

  • 6PM – 12AM (original)
  • 12AM – 6AM (repeat)
  • 6AM – 12PM (repeat)
  • 12PM – 6PM (repeat)

Each six hour block will have music videos from approximately 100 different emerging musicians. Weekend broadcasts will feature the “most funded” artists from the weekday programming. The weekend format will mirror the weekday schedule.
