Brief: Crowdfunded Products are Finalists Once Again in Last Gadget Standing at CES

SCiOOnce again the “Last Gadget Standing”, a part of the CES tech love in that kicks off next week in Vegas, has selected a group of sexy gadgets to compete for honor and acclaim of developing products that are “more than just a flash in the pan”.  Last year the winner was Skulpt Aim. Skulpt was still crowdfunding on Indiegogo when they received the news they had won the title of being the final winner.

To participate in the contest, any exhibitor at CES that has a device – not a service or software – may jump into the scrum.  Products must have shipped in 2014 or no later than the end of 2015.  Two spots are reserved for products that have “winner potential” but will not be announced until the show on January 8th.

Last Gadget StandingThis year two products that leveraged crowdfunding are in the final round. Scio from Consumer Physics, a product that used Indiegogo to raise funds AND is a portfolio company of equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd is on the list.  Another entry, Petzila also raised funding on Indiegogo in 2013.

There is one online winner selected by the “crowd”.  There is another selected at the live event on the 8th.  There is no cash prize awarded but the bragging rights are enough to guarantee good participation from some really cool devices.
