This week, crowdfunding platform Kickstarter introduced a new feature for successfully funded campaigns: Spotlight. In one place, the new page allows successfully funded creators to tell the complete story of how their products came to life.

gramovox-bluetooth-gramophoneFor example, take the Gramovox Bluetooth Gramophone campaign, for which 927 backers pledged $241,173. Clicking on the campaign’s spotlight page leads to a simplified vertical timeline of updates. The two other familiar tabs–Story and Comments–are also present.

The Spotlight feature also allows creators to customize their page, from the background to the main image to the little blue button that starts out with “Follow along!” notes Kickstarter. The company’s recent blog post, “11 Creative Ways to Use The Button on Spotlight,” offers a few examples of excellent calls to action.

Add these to your button collection: “Watch on iTunes,” “Shall I make more?” (for a T-shirt that reads “Bjork Swan Dress”) and “Keep up with @ADAMJK,” helping engage backers beyond the campaign. Creators with successfully funded campaigns: the spotlight is yours.
