Kickstarter Alum Pirate3D Forms Partnership With Australia’s Oceania Distribution

Pirate3D announced a relationship with Digital3D, an Australian company based out of New South Wales that specializes in Digital Design products. Digital3D is now authorized as an Oceania distribution partner for Pirate3D, bringing Pirate3D products including the Buccaneer and the Pirate3D Printing Ecosystem, to resellers throughout Oceania.

pirate3dPirate3D, based in Singapore, designs and manufactures the Buccaneer 3D printer, a reliable and user-friendly consumer 3D printer. The startup secured $1.4 million through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013.

Pirate3D’s Buccaneer 3D printers are directly integrated with the Treasure Island library, which provide objects for immediate 3D printing. Buccaneer 3D printers work with apps on the iOS, Android, and Windows operating systems. The company has been awarded Singapore’s President’s Design Award and has sold its products directly worldwide through its Kickstarter program and subsequently through its website. At the start of 2015, with fulfillment of its crowdfunding obligations underway, Pirate3D began looking for distributors worldwide.

Brendan Goh, COO for Pirate3D, stated:

Buccaneer 4“Teaming with specialist retailers not only allows us to reach more re-sellers, they also represent a hub for community building in the various regions we sell to. We want the best possible service for our customers and realized the most convenient way for them is to have a local point of contact. We receive requests from retailers about working with us and understand the benefits of tying up retail with distributors who have had years of experience in the 3D printing market. It’s a very exciting time as we see a higher level of adoption by consumers which is our primary market space.”

Under the new agreement Digital3D will distribute Pirate3D products, which include the award-winning Buccaneer 3D Printer and Pirate3D Filaments. Pirate3D printer apps are easily available for download on iTunes and Google Play.

Buccaneer 5Roger Chang, CEO of Pirate3D, added:

“We believe that working with Digital3D will help further our mission of bringing 3D printers to homes through an easy to use and highly reliable 3D printer, quality prints and interesting content.”

The reseller and distribution agreement between Pirate3D and Digital3D begins immediately. Digital3D is expected to be stocked and ready to resell Pirate3D products by June.
