Earlier this week, a group of non-profit organizations has formed a partnership with local businesses to launch a crowdfunding campaign called The California Drought Relief Fund.

California Relief 4The campaign was created by the Climate Relief Fund to help support local relief organizations that are assisting families who have ran out of water due to the severe drought. The funds will be divided among three local relief organizations, Self-Help Enterprises (SHE), the Environmental Justice Coalition for Water (EJCW) and the California Fire Foundation (CFF).

Noting where all the funds will go towards, the campaign’s organizers shared:

“Our Every Last Drop Promise ensures that 100% of your donation will go to local, on-the-ground groups doing drought and wildfire relief and recovery. This includes organizations delivering emergency bottled water, providing temporary household water storage tanks and filling services, as well as longer term projects like connecting houses to municipal water supplies and helping with low-interest loans for wells and other solutions.”

Co-creator of the initiative, Tom Steyer, shared:

California Drought Relif 1“From devastating drought to dangerous wildfires, California’s families are already feeling the impacts of climate change. As Californians, we stand ready to lend a hand to our friends and neighbors. The California Drought Relief Fund will provide critical assistance to communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Their struggles remind us of our moral responsibility to protect our communities while we address the cause of the climate crisis and build a better future for our children.”

Partners of the fund include 350.org, courage campaign, and The Climate Reality Project. Additional financial and promotion support has been provided by Sports Basement 1% for the Planet, Betabrand, and the Divining Rod.
