Enio Promotes Electric Cars on Companisto, Looks to the Crowd

enioStart-up ENIO wants to promote electric cars with the help of a crowd solution in partnership with Companisto. The demand for charging stations is also rising as more powerful electronic vehicles are arriving on the market. As a consequence, drivers need to know where the nearest charging station is located. In two days, Enio’s campaign to date has raised over 43,624€ toward its 500,000€ funding goal with the help of over 131 investors.

Friedrich Vogel Franz SchodlSix years ago, Viennese entrepreneurs Friedrich Vogel and Franz Schodl came up with the idea to link e-car charging stations throughout Europe using a software-as-a-service solution. According to Vogel, a business informatics graduate who founded the e-mobility start-up with Franz Schodl in 2013, E-car drivers can find the nearest available charging station online; ENIO alone already operates 1500 charging points. Founders Vogel and Schodl wanted to go one step further to advance e-mobility throughout Europe with the help of the youCharge system.

enioTheir idea: By installing a charging point in a wall of your own home, individuals can transform their property into a charging station. The result is not only the promotion of renewable energies but also the profit earned with one’s own charging station. Vogel adds that the concept of developing charging stations as a crowd solution could help to use existing resources to their full potential: “Electric cars require something that almost everyone has at home: electricity.” The youCharge charging points are to be directly linked to the power supply by a contractor and will be easily found by drivers using the ENIO app. Drivers of e-cars who take part in youCharge can give other users cheap access to their charging systems. Non-members will also be able to use youCharge at the regular market price.

“As we offer a crowd solution, the crowdfunding campaign is perfect for ENIO,” segued  Vogel. “E-mobility saves fossil resources and lowers CO2 emissions. But e-mobility requires infrastructure. Together with the crowd, we want to make this idea come true.”
