Smart Parka, a fully-loaded winter coat, has successfully secured $2.3 million CAD ($1.6M USD) through its Kickstarter campaign. The project first surfaced on the crowdfunding portal late January and has continued to attract backers.
As previously reported, there are 4 different styles of the parka for the ladies and 3 for men. The feature list includes tablet pocket for the iPad, built in scarf, gloves stashed in the sleeve, glasses pocket, hat pocket, phone pocket and more.
North Aware, the company behind the coat, explained:
“We believe that going out in winter should not be intimidating. It should be fun. We found a real problem with winter coats. If the weather turns bad, and you don’t have your gloves or anything to cover your face, you are not protected.”
Sharing details about the coat, creator Jamil Khan stated:
“With such an overwhelming response to our coat, we are in overdrive to meet customer demand and make sure we address everyone’s needs. Everyone hates going out in the extreme cold, because it’s just too big of a hassle to get prepared for the elements. I felt there was a gap between consumer needs and what the market was providing.”
Since the project has hit a $2 million CAD mark, Khan and his team at North Aware created a card for Kickstarter backers. Each backer will receive 10% on future products through Kickstarter, website and in retail stores.
With less than three days until the campaign comes to an end, backer can still receive the coat for $223 USD.
