Following the closing of its successful Seedrs initiative, the crew at UK-based Friction Free Shaving discussed the crowdfunding experience with Business Quarters.
The company, which was founded by Des McManus and Aidan Burley, offers a monthly subscription service that is designed exclusively for women. Friction Free Shaving explained:
“To our knowledge, we are the only razor delivery service in the UK designed exclusively for women. We deliver razors and replacement blades through customers’ letterboxes each month in return for a modest monthly subscription. The blades arrive via Royal Mail and P&P is built into the sale price.”
How it works is pretty simple:
- Step One: Customers pick their razors from three razors. Each are metal and have no plastic. These prices are £3, £5 or £7 per month.
- Step Two: The company will send the customers their new razor in the post along with 4 fresh blades. It may also offer little gift in the box as well.
- Step Three: Each month, the company will send customers 4 fresh blades. This service can be paused or canceled at any time.
The razors are the 5 stainless steel razor blade “Samantha” (£7), the 3 stainless steel razor blade “Frankie” (£5), and the 2 stainless steel razor blade “Faye” (£3).
During the interview, a spokesperson from Friction Free Shaving stated:
“Our aim was to raise £110,000 in return for 14.2 per cent equity in the business. Well we are pleased to say that we surpassed this by £40,000 and have managed to raise just over £150,000. Our crowdfunding campaign that occurred on Seedrs earlier last month was a huge success and it will help us immensely in the coming months. We cannot thank everyone who helped us enough and we are so grateful of the support.”
