Piece of Cake: London’s Bakery Genuine Cakes Launches AngelsDen Campaign to Expand Operations

London bakery, Genuine Cakes (also known as GC) has recently launched an AngelsDen campaign to raise £250,000 as it prepared to expand into the central part of the city. The company, which is owned by cake designer Marie Sinclair and business partner Sach Singh, provides a range of baked goods for weddings and celebration events, including cupcakes, layer cakes, and macarons.

Genuine Cakes 2Genuine Cakes is notably the preferred wedding cake supplier to over 15 hotels located in London, including Claridges, The Four Seasons, The Lanesborough, The Connaught and Savoy. It also has designed cakes for celebrities such as Cheryl Cole and Rochelle Humes. The company reports it has sold cakes for the price of £9,000 and £16,0000. It has also delivered cakes to events from New York to the Middle East and has earned on average 70% gross profit on all of its standard baking goods. Cupcakes sell £2.00-£2.50 and a standard 4-tier wedding cake starts at £1,500 but costs 350 to produce (including iced decorations). GC stands out from its competitors due to the fact that it offers unique recipes, along with gluten free, egg free, and vegan choices.

The GC premium brand of cakes have also featured in a number of wedding press articles including being voted in the top ten of wedding cake designs by Harpers Bizarre.”

Funds from the campaign will be used consultation suite and showroom in Central London, branding /marketing/PR, capital to roll out further locations. The company noted it has sourced a location in Mayfair to open a showroom and wedding cake display area. It also revealed the total amount it wishes to achieve is £440,000 and is offering 25% in equity.

The campaign is set to run until early August.
