Deal Focus: Thoughtful Bread Company

A slightly different approach for a Crowdfunding deal today.  The offering is for the Thoughtful Bread Company, a small business based in the UK offered up on the UK site CrowdCube.  No one is going to save the world with  Artisanal bread (Almost no one…ok).  This is not for some hot new gadget device which the geeks at Gizmodo and Engadget are shivering in front of their iMacs to acquire.  Nor is this for an art film that is way too cool for even the hipster elite to appreciate.  This is just bread.  Probably pretty good bread – I would assume.

The coolness about this deal is this offering is an excellent example of a small operation offering up equity to finance a growing, small business.

Here is the pitch: They are offering up 20% equity ownership for 55,000 pounds (a bit over $88,000 US).  A recent offer on CrowdCube – they have 58 days for the offer to close with two investors participating to date for a total of 6,000 pounds raised.  A visit to the Thoughtful Bread Company website proves they are a top bakery.  Multiple awards and an attention to hand made, locally sourced products assures the very best product.  They sell via retail and to  regional restaurants and delis.

They also provide catering services, baking courses and have a book for sale on Amazon (of course).

So where will this all go?  The owners are obviously an ambitious crew so they certainly have great potential.  Is this the type of deal you would be willing to support?  If this was an offering local to your state, province, county or lander would you want in?  Beginning in 2013 everyone Stateside will find out.  So best of luck to Thoughtful Bread Co. Perhaps we will see their products in the local Gourmet shop one day.
