Sensor technology company Zansors
today announced the launch of a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to raise funds for the production of ZeeMee(TM), Zansors’ breakthrough wireless, wearable sensor that allows users to measure their “sleep personality.”
Developed by a team of experts on sensors, software analytics and design, the ZeeMee(TM) sleep patch measures users’ breathing patterns and motion during the night and assigns a sleep score using a simple color and number scale. By exploring their sleep personalities, users can better understand how sleep affects their daily moods and temperaments. Easy to use and understand, ZeeMee(TM) taps into people’s fascination with the mystery of sleep and dreams — and the very real impact sleep has on their daily lives.
“Everyone sleeps, and the way we sleep is meaningful; I envision that our sensor will function as a Myers-Briggs-like indicator for sleep personality types, helping people assess how well they sleep in a creative and fun way,” said Jill Spaeth, the Chief Creative Officer at Zansors and ZeeMee(TM) project leader. “With ZeeMee(TM)’s small size and special adhesives developed by Zansors’ supplier, users won’t even know it’s there.”
“Sensors have been in use for many years, but the key for us was making sense of the data,” added Dr. Abhijit Dasgupta, Chief Data Science Officer for Zansors. “We studied both breathing and motion data for months and created a proprietary algorithm that can interpret the data collected and give our users easy-to-understand yet meaningful results every morning.”
A major challenge in developing any wireless, wearable sensor is the hardware. ZeeMee(TM)’s 99 parts, including a micro-controller, sensors and a battery, are housed in a 1.5 inch x 2.0 inch patch. The prototype is comfortable to wear and does not affect the user’s sleep. The prototype’s semiconductor hardware assembly, including electronics and integrated circuits, will be done at Semiconductor Hybrid Assembly (SHA), with assembly, logistics and prototyping by Prototype Production Inc. (PPI).
“We are working closely with reputable companies such as SHA and PPI to build our hardware and test our prototype,” explained Dave Warner, Zansors’ Chief Technology Officer, who is leading ZeeMee(TM)’s product development. “By working with experts in the field of engineering and design, we were able to build a light-weight, tiny and comfortable device that people will enjoy using.”
