Parma native Mary Poldruhi is using a relatively new Internet concept to raise money for Parma Pierogies.
It’s called “crowdfunding.” Anyone can solicit money from large numbers of people for any cause. Crowdfunding websites started appearing within the last four years.
Crowdfunding involves donations, not investments. Donors receive nothing in return, although fundraisers might give small gifts in exchange for contributions.
Poldruhi picked a crowd-funding website called Indiegogo to conduct her fundraising campaign. It’s the same site used by Parma resident Michael Maxim to raise money for saving Parma Theater.
