Crowdfunding Launched for: “Die WG” (German sitcom)

Die WG on Indiegogo(Staff Translation)

This Monday, a crowdfunding campaign was launched for “ Die WG” (German for “Wohngemeinschaft” : Flat Share), a comedy sitcom, praised by many producers and editors but viewed as “ too young” for German television. That is why the small team comprised of the inventor and author Patrick Maak decided to finance the series pilot via the popular Crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
We are of the opinion and want to prove that German sitcoms targeted to the 30 something audience have the right to exist “ explains Patrick Maak. “ In the U.S., there have been and still are sitcoms such as Seinfeld, Friends and How I Met Your Mother, targeting exactly this age group with huge success – why should it be different in Germany?”

The Crowdfunding campaign’s goal is to enable the production of a pilot episode thanks to which more funds should become available for further shows. Sitcom fans benefit from various perks in exchange for their donations such as a voting right during casting, a pilot dvd as well as the option to pitch their own idea or product. The team wants to collect about 20,000 Euros.

The first 6 scripts of the sitcom “WG” are available for download at no cost in order to demonstrate the quality of the show.
