Basically a spawn of the internet, crowd funding is a platform that combines the people power of the internet and social media with creative, business, or philanthropic ideas.
A Queenslander individual set up their own campaign last week on IndieGoGo, a platform designed to support small business ideas. The 24-year-old wants to build a franchise of barber shops across Australia.
“I grew up on a farm so I always knew I didn’t want to spend my life sitting at a desk,” he said. “Barber shops have minimal overheads. They are an easy business to run because they have less products, less liability and they’re relatively easy to open. You don’t need much space.”
