Coming from the pages of Metro in the UK, a Hostel firm launches a crowdfunding campaign to raise £200,000.oo.
Journeys Hostels, a fast-growing backpackers hostel brand, is seeking to raise £200,000 to convert an old traditional British pub in London into a 120-bed youth hostel.
The company claims to be the ‘world’s first’ hostel franchise business and already has six locations – three in London, one each in Brighton, Dover and Thailand.
It is thought to be the biggest campaign of its kind and launches through Crowdfunder.co.uk today.
In return for varying levels of pledge, investors can receive a stay at any of the hostels – from one night for a £10 pledge, up to 30 nights for higher pledges – and have beds and rooms named in their honour.
Journeys also is assisting another ailing industry – the ubiquitous – and much loved – British pubs.
…hostels are breathing life into another struggling industry.
‘A lot of our hostels are in old pubs, or above existing, under-performing pubs in good locations,’ he added.
The campaign launches today on Crowdfunder. Crowdfunder and Peoplefund.it merged the end of last year to combine efforts thus creating a larger network.
