Crowdfunding Lebron: Get Him to Dunk!

Lebron and the DunkLaunching on January 16th was an interesting crowdfunding appeal on GoFundMe.  One that gets basketball star Lebron James to enter the All Start Game Dunk Contest – something he has always shied away from in past years.  And why should this $1,000,000 crowdfunding goal be so compelling to King James?  All funds raised will be donated to the Lebron James Family Foundation.

There is only one person that can bring the Dunk Contest back to its former glory and his name is LeBron James.  All signs currently point to another year void of the most freakishly athletic basketball player of all time’s participation in the event.  So what could possibly motivate him to have a change of heart and participate?  James was asked last year if someone tossed a $1 million winner-take-all bounty on it, if he’d take part.  His response was, “Then I’d reconsider. Wouldn’t you?”

Lebron James Family Foundation The Crowdfunding campaign has a ways to go, having raised under $3000.00 in the past few days with the support of 60 donors.  Mashable points out there is a possibility that Lebron can be coaxed out to dunk as he takes his foundation seriously;

James does take his foundation seriously. In a classic sports moment that went viral just last week, he joyously tackled a fan after the man hit a half-court hook shot to raise $75,000 for the foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Lebron claims not to be a dunking type of guy- but on court performances would certainly challenge these claims;

Lebron James I Promise

“It’s just not me, I’m not a dunk contest type of guy,” James told reporters lastyear. “I’m an in-game dunker. I kind of improvise during the game. I’m not for scoreboards and all that type of stuff.”

Any takers in changing Lebron’s mind?  Now is your opportunity.
