Crowdfunding project celebrates Humboldt County artists

Local writer and photographer Monica Topping recently launched a crowdfunded calendar project called “small town: BIG ART” through Kickstarter.com.

The idea of the 2014 calendar is to celebrate Humboldt County art and artists through photo essays and interviews. Limited to only 12 calendar pages, Topping’s goal was to offer as much artistic variety as possible, featuring only one artist per medium.

Featured artists will include painter Duane Flatmo, potter Peggy Loudon, glassblower Darin Mitchell, jeweler Christina Anastasia, metal sculptor Scott Hemphill, mosaic artist Laurel Skye, photographer Matt Filar, costumer Rae Robison, wire artist Elizabeth Berrien, banjo maker Colin Vance, kinetic sculptor Scott Cocking and repurposer Linda Wise.
