Crowdfunding on Indiegogo, Skullgirls – a multiplatform fighting game – rocketed to fundraising success out of the gate on Indiegogo. With 30 days left in their crowdfunding campaign the project has already raised $140,000 of their $150,000 goal.
We’ve now surpassed $100k in just over nine hours of starting the campaign. We’re all absolutely blown away. Thank you all!
Over 2200 backers have already contributed to the effort with reward levels starting at $5 and rising to $1,000 – which quickly sold out (you get your own character of course).
The crowdfunding campaign is being run by Lab Zero Games which was spun off from the Skullgirls owner / publisher Autumn Games. In a note on their web sit Lab Zero touched on their challenges;

founded by the original team that brought you Skullgirls. Lab Zero intends to continue its critically-acclaimed work on Skullgirls as well as leverage its unique design and artistic sensibilities to develop new games.
As many of our fans know, Skullgirls had more than its fair share of difficulties getting to market, but thus far none have been quite this dire: last June, the entire Skullgirls team was laid off from Reverge Labs.
With the current success of their crowfunding effort and the support by their cult like fans perhaps they have turned the corner and will continue to deliver the ongoing improvements to the Skullgirl franchise.
