Indiegogo Celebrates Birthday of Jobs Act in Show of Support

Indiegogo Birthday Cake for Jobs ActLeading crowdfunding site Indiegogo held a celebration this past week in recognition of the anniversary of President Obama signing the Jobs Act into law in April of last year.  While the legislation legalized equity crowdfunding, the regulatory evaluation process has pushed back the actualization of crowdfunding in the United States.

In a statement on their web site Indiegogo stated they remained supportive of the Jobs Act and optimistic the progress will occur soon,

One year ago today, President Obama signed the JOBS Act — sweeping, bipartisan legislation that paved the way for equity-based crowdfunding. Though the SEC has yet to provide the regulations that will allow the JOBS Act’s provisions to go into effect, the Indiegogo team is still thrilled by the huge leap for crowdfunding that the legislation signals, and we are highly optimistic that progress is on the horizon. As an open platform, Indiegogo welcomes any advancement that can expand the ways people are able to crowdfund. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Indiegogo team baked a cake for the JOBS Act:

Rumors abound as to the actual status of the decisions necessary to allow equity crowdfunding in the United States.  Even though Crowdfunding garnered bi-partisan support and deep popular interest Crowdfunding remains mired in the political process today.
