Company to Donate JamStik for Children’s Cancer Program

Jamstik on IndiegogoZivix to Donate JamStiks to Children’s Cancer Association MyMusicRx Program; Contributing to the “Healing Power of Music”.

Zivix, LLC, a developer leveraging innovative technology through peripherals, real musical instruments and software, today announced that the company will be donating multiple JamStiks to the Children’s Cancer Association (CCA). The donation of the company’s portable, easy-to-use guitar-like instrument for iOS will become an engaging musical piece of the CCA’s innovative MusicRx and MyMusicRx programs, further enabling children to express themselves by writing their own “music prescription” at Oregon hospitals.

The company also announced that it has crowdfunded more than $100,000 toward the JamStik Indiegogo campaign, surpassing its original goal within the first two weeks of the campaign.

“Our mission is to help make music more accessible and meaningful for everyone,” said Zivix vice president, Chad Koehler. “Sharing our passion for music through the JamStik, the software and the unlimited creative potential is an amazing opportunity to join in on the ‘healing power of music’ with the Children’s Cancer Association’s MusicRx and MyMusicRx programs.”

CCA’s MyMusicRx program will add iPads to the in-hospital MusicRx program in May as an addition to the existing instrument cart, which is currently used to deliver music medicine to the children through performance and music education. With the iOS capabilities of JamStik, the iPads on-site will allow the device to become a complimentary asset to the already available tools. The JamStik will become another captivating instrument in the program that will encourage learning through the device’s app-based teaching system and music creation through JamMix and the Midi controller functionality, which allows access to hundreds of other great Midi-supported apps. Zivix’s donation will be available at Portland’s Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

“Our MusicRx program strives to offer a unique and interactive music medicine experience,” said Regina Ellis, Founder and CEO of the Children’s Cancer Association. “Having Zivix on board as a supporter of this program with the donation of the JamStik will help share the power of music medicine and will undoubtedly lift moods throughout the hospitals while allowing the children to easily learn to play guitar and bring out their inner musician.”
