Keen Home Inc., Creator of the Keen Vent, Pursues Capital Raise

NEW YORK — Keen Home Inc., developer of home automation products and services, has announced that it is in pursuit of raising capital to complete the development of its Keen Vent, a wirelessly networked home air vent system. The company recently launched an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign on the heels of being featured as one of the hottest 28 startups in the country while participating in TechCrunch’s Disrupt NYC annual conference last month. To date, the company has raised over 60% of its $40,000 goal on Indiegogo and is now looking to raise up to $750,000 in seed capital to take the innovative Keen Vent concept into product development, with the goal of beta testing prototypes by Q3 2013.

Entrepreneurs and co-founders of Keen Home, Ryan Fant and Nayeem Hussain, have designed a wirelessly networked home air vent that maximizes the efficiency and comfort of a home’s heating and cooling system by intelligently redirecting central HVAC airflow. Keen Vents automatically open and close in response to specific details of a user’s home and lifestyle – effectively reducing a home’s square footage that needs to be heated or cooled at a given time. Initial testing has revealed that a system of Keen Vents reduces central HVAC system run times by up to 30 percent.
