Crowdfunding with Social Twist, JumpStartCity Launches Site

JumpStartCityIn a posting on the JumpStartCity site blog, co-founder Billy Smith announced the launch of their “social”crowdfunding platform.

Today we are launching Jump Start City and are here to tell the world that crowdfunding will never be the same again. Mark & I started brainstorming about 6 months ago in an attempt to build a better crowdfunding website. We told each other that unless we could really come up with some very good differentiating features from the other leaders in the industry, we would abandon the entire idea and move on with life. We had no interest in just attempting to clone the other guys. The chances of success if we tried to do that were not good and therefore not worth the time, money & effort.

After filtering through many early stage ideas, we were able to finally craft a new crowdfunding platform that we felt would change everything. We then set out to create it with all its personality and nuances. Here we are today to usher it into the public domain!

JumpStartCity is an all or nothing crowdfunding site that has segmented the process into 3 tiers:

  • Elevator Pitch
  • Promotion Stage
  • Active Stage

The Elevator Pitch is where potential crowdfunders make a 60 second video appeal for your project.  If you receive 500 pitch points then your project is accepted on the platform to be crowdfunded.  If you do not receive the votes then the crowd has decided your project does not have enough merit to crowdfund.

The promotion phase follows with a campaign to stir up excitement for the project prior to the Active Stage where the crowdfunding actually takes place.

The JumpStartCity “Social Crowdfunding Community” has created an environment where the more your participate in the process in supporting the crowfunding pitches, the greater influence you have on the projects.  Capture enough promotional influence and perhaps the projects crowdfunding on the site may pay you to promote.

JumpStartCity is determined to differentiate themselves from the ubiquitous Kickstarter / Indiegogo clones.  A growing part of the crowdfunding industry challenge is the enormous challenge of differentiating your project from the noise of the crowd.  With thousands upon thousands of projects crowdfunding it is a growing challenge for your project to be discovered.    JumpStartCity is attempting to address this issue.

Reportedly JumpStartCity  already has 70 projects lined up to crowdfund out of the gate.
