Apple computer is circling the globe on a mission to trademark the label “iWatch” everywhere. Speculation has been rampant for some time now that Apple was getting into wearable tech in a big way with their first entry being a watch. Apple CEO Tim Cook expressed interest in this product category earlier this year while being interviewed.
With products such as the Pebble watch being embraced by consumers it is no wonder Apple will be attempting dominate this product category.
Apple followers were first put on notice earlier this week when it was revealed that Apple was trademarking the term in Japan. This was followed by multiple other countries where the term was being trademarked by Apple. Entering the United States (and the UK) it appears that Apple may have more of a challenge capturing the iWatch name.
It was discovered that iWatch by OMG Electronics, LLC may have the term already. As reported in Cult of Mac they do in fact own the trademark.
OMG Electronics ran a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo the end of last year. The amount targeted was $100,000 but the funds raised only added up to less than $1500.00.
It appears the failed campaign just recently updated a video 2 days ago on their dormant Indiegogo crowdfunding run. Apparently the failed effort at crowdfunding has not dimmed their attempt to create smart watches as they list many on their site today. One of the watches up for sale today is called the “iWatch”.
Apple has a reputation for getting what they want. In fact the now ubiquitous Apple iPhone name 
had to be purchased from Cisco – the company who controlled the trademark prior to Apple entering the mobile phone sector. Most likely OMG Electronics will be receiving a call noting the trademark is being challenged and a possible agreement that may sweeten understanding that iWatch will be given up to Apple.
