Tim Draper Pays Jim Lee $25K To Paint His Wall

Last month we reported that the “We Can Be Heroes” crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo was offering one heck of a reward. For $25,000 famous comic book artist Jim Lee would come to one backer’s house and paint a wall of their choosing in his trademark style.

Well, that one-off reward has a backer, and it is none other than Tim Draper.

We first met Draper at the SV Crowdfund conference in Palo Alto back in April. He keynoted the event and had some pointed words for the SEC and regulators for dragging their feet on the implementation of equity crowdfunding in the United States. He is a seasoned venture capitalist and founder of global VC firm Draper Fisher Jurveston.

Draper’s contribution helped put the campaign over the top. The campaign is now fully funded, meaning it avoids an extra 4% in fees from Indiegogo due to the campaign being flexibly funded. For more on Indiegogo flexible funding campaigns see our article from March.

The proceeds will be split amongst three charities focused on fighting hunger in Africa: International Rescue Committee, Mercy Corps and Save the Children.

Hat tip to Bleeding Cool for their coverage.
