Crowdfunding on Indiegogo where the “Activity Tracker” hit its goal on first day of crowdfunding, Misfit Shine has announced official launch of device in the United States, Canada, Japan and Hong Kong. The activity tracker will also be in Apple Stores in Europe and Australia later this month. Originally scheduled for deliver in March of 2013 the device is a few months late. The Misfit Shine is a competitive entrant into the very hot activity market. The cool looking device measures the intensity and duration of your physical activity and provides metrics such as steps taken, distance travelled, and estimated calories burned. A user may wear it at night to track sleep as well. Shine comes with a clasp and a sport band so you can wear it in a number of different locations. Other accessories available include a leather and metal band and a necklace, that enable you to not only wear Shine anywhere on your body but to any occasion. Misfit Shine may also be used for swimming.
The device syncs with your iPhone wirelessly and is powered by a regular user-replaceable coin cell battery which lasts up to four months.
The Shine App, is available now in the Apple App Store.
The company was founded in 2011 by Sonny Vu with backing from former Apple CEO John Sculley, and Sridhar Iyengar, co-founder and CTO of AgaMatrix.
