National Bank of Oman Receives Award for Best Mobile Banking Application by International Finance Magazine

The National Bank of Oman (NBO), the first local bank and one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle Eastern country of Oman, has been awarded Best Mobile Banking Application – Oman 2019 by the International Finance Magazine.

The bank has also received various other awards for its innovative mobile app, which aims to provide clients an intuitive and seamless digital banking experience via a user-friendly interface.

Abdul Karim Al Hinai, deputy general manager, Alternative Channels, Retail Banking at NBO, stated:

“In today’s increasingly connected world, customer expectations continue to evolve at a rapid pace. They have neither the time nor inclination to go to a [physical] branch, they want their banking on the go. With our mobile app, we tap into this need, allowing customers the freedom to bank how they want, whenever they want, making it convenient and hassle-free.”

The International Finance Magazine, which recognizes innovators in the financial services sector, aims to highlight the accomplishments of banking institutions that are developing platforms that leverage the latest technology. The awards are given based on a bank’s commitment to infrastructure development and ensuring customer satisfaction. The International Finance Magazine award ceremony is held annually.

Banks may receive an award in a variety of categories, including their ability to recruit outstanding industry talent, leadership and management skills, industry net worth, among other criteria.

Al Hinai noted:

“We’re delighted to have been recognised with another award, which is a testament of our ongoing drive to deliver state-of-the-art products and services, and to provide a superior customer experience through technological excellence.”

Bank of Oman’s app was developed in-house, and is currently available for all residents of Oman, both NBO and non-NBO clients. The banking app aims to combine versatility, reliability and convenience, along with high-tech features including biometric log-ins.

The app’s users may perform a wide range of routine tasks such as opening accounts, paying utility and credit card bills, finding local branches and ATM locations, applying for various products and services such as the Easy Payment Plan (EPP) and Badeel (Prepaid Cards).

This banking app’s users can also conveniently make local and cross-border money transfers, and make instant remittance payments. The app comes with a geolocation functionality, which enables real-time notifications of special discount offers for cardholders via its Marketplace.
