After Raising Almost $30 Million, StartEngine Plans Another Self-Crowdfunding Round in 2022

StartEngine, one of the largest securities crowdfunding platforms in the US, is planning another self-crowdfunding round at some point in 2022.

This will follow a successful offering that was completed at the end of 2021 where StartEngine raised $29.4 million leveraging the Reg A+ exemption.

StartEngine shared in filed documents that as of March 7, 2021, companies utilizing its services have raised a total of $297 million from all offering types.

In an email, StartEngine co-founder and CEO Howard Marks said their mission is to help entrepreneurs and investors to achieve their dreams.

“I am reminded by the Activision journey that to be able to achieve greatness it takes resilience and belief in a marketplace. I believe that equity crowdfunding and alternative investments for the main street investor is the future. I am happy to announce that we will launch a new OWN campaign this year. The last one reached a record $29M raised in just a few months. The enthusiasm of our new investors is inspiring. Their love for our marketplace and how they help us get companies on our platform is simply amazing. My entire team is dedicated to our mission and values and we will continue to build a company that hopefully one day will tell the story of equity crowdfunding, the same as Activision has told the story of video games.”

Marks was CEO of Activision at one point in his career. As has been widely reported, Activision is being purchased by Microsoft for over $68 billion.

While the timing of the next securities offering for shares in StartEngine is unknown, you can anticipate that shares will be sold at a higher valuation than last year’s securities offering.
