“The Institute for Conscious Global Change” (ICGC), a non-profit organization run 100% by volunteers, has entered the second half of their crowdfunding Rockethub Campaign. The organization needs your help now. ICGC is aiming to raise just $2600 for their annual “Geographic Information System” (GIS) server fees by June 15, 2013.
The server fees are critical to ICGC’s development work. The NGO is using GIS software to virtually develop infrastructure solutions for the world’s “Least Developed Countries”. The software requires the servers to operate. At this critical juncture, loss of the servers would prevent the completion of phase one (of three) and slow down nearly three years of the organization’s work.
This means storage setbacks for the data specifically comprised of qualitative and quantitative research from high-level United Nations (UN) country-specific reports, World Health Organization studies and community and government consultations. Not renewing the servers would also mean delaying the work on the virtual maps for three pilot communities in Haiti, The Democratic Republic of Congo and Afghanistan considerably.
Funding will allow ICGC to finish all three pilot communities. The project is only months away from completion. The interactive maps will be available online so anyone, anywhere can see and contribute to the development of their community and country. The Institute’s mission is a part of the UN’s focus on achieving the Millennium Development Goals and emerging Sustainable Development Goals.
