MetaMask Cautions on iCloud and Phishing Attempts Aiming to Steal Crypto

MetaMask, a popular crypto wallet that is reportedly used by more than 21 million individuals, has posted a series of Tweets cautioning customers about iCloud and phishing attempts that could put funds at risk.

MetaMask emerged as a popular crypto wallet as it first launched as a browser extension. Today, MetaMask also maintains iOS and Google Play Apps.

Regarding iCloud, there have been multiple instances of phishing attacks that have scammed passwords from Apple’s cloud product that is affiliated with its ubiquitous devices and thus highly popular. Earlier this month, a Twitter user-outlined how the scam was perpetrated claiming that hundreds of thousands have already been stolen using the ploy.

MetaMask shared how a user can disable iCloud backups specifically for MetaMask users.

Apple has also posted some recommendations as to how to keep your information and iCloud secure.

It is not clear how many users have been impacted by this scam but as always, never click on an unknown link and never trust a text, email, call from someone you don’t know or who could be impersonating a business.
