House Financial Services Committee Announces Subcommittee Hearings, Scrutinizes SEC Agenda

The House Financial Services Committee has announced several upcoming hearings on various issues.

On Tuesday, October 24, the Capital Markets Subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled: “Examining the SEC’s Agenda: Unintended Consequences for U.S. Capital Markets and Investors.”

The same day, the Financial Institutions & Monetary Policy Subcommittee will meet to discuss: “The Tangled Web of Global Governance: How the Biden Administration is Ceding Authority Over American Financial Regulation.”

Additionally, the Housing & Insurance Subcommittee is scheduled for a hearing entitled: “The Factors Influencing the High Cost of Insurance for Consumers.”

Hearing memos and the list of witnesses are not yet available.

The Capital Markets Subcommittee may be interesting as it will probably seek to press the SEC on its radical agenda of pursuing a social agenda as opposed to facilitating capital formation and efficient markets, all while protecting investors.

Additional information should be forthcoming towards the end of the week. All hearings are live-streamed on the Committee’s website.
