Global Fintech Airwallex Reports Steady Business Growth in the Netherlands

Airwallex, a global payments and financial services platform for businesses, has witnessed growth in the Netherlands in the last year, with year-on-year revenue increasing “199% in Q2 2025 compared to Q2 2024.”

Airwallex has also “added Creative Fabrica, Aurum Brothers and Vallon to its existing Dutch customer base alongside Bird, Nivoda and WeTravel.”

Airwallex now has specific product launches live in-country, addressing specific customer needs:

  • NL IBANs to provide customers in the market with local account details;
    Integration with Exact Online, an ERP provider, to support Dutch businesses by automating their bookkeeping processes; and
  • Offering multi-currency settlement services, enabling foreign exchange (FX) cost efficiencies by accepting and paying in customers’ required currencies and preferred payment methods

To support such growth, Airwallex has “bolstered its commercial team and made a number of senior hires.”

Most recently, the NL team has been “strengthened by Tom Butlin, Senior Director Compliance, joining from Mollie.”

This follows Laurens Maartens joining as Executive Director Yield and Bart Verweij as Treasury Director.

To accommodate the expansion of its team, now with a 50-strong headcount – which includes a large and growing number of engineers – Airwallex’s NL office has also recently “moved to a central location alongside other major fintech players.”

Kai Wu, Chief Revenue Officer at Airwallex, said:

“Digitisation has driven an explosion of cross-border payment volumes and Airwallex sits at the heart ensuring businesses are set up with the right financial infrastructure to support this. We have seen continued growth across EMEA, with the Netherlands success mirroring that.”

Airwallex recently closed a “$300 million Series F funding round valuing the business at $6.2 billion, with new investors such as Visa Ventures, Airtree and Blackbird joining existing names such as Square Peg, DST Global, Lone Pine Capital and Salesforce Ventures.”

It also announced a new global “partnership with Arsenal football club.”

As noted in the update, Airwallex is a financial platform “building the future of global banking for modern businesses.”

By combining infrastructure with software and AI, Airwallex is reimagining how businesses “manage accounts, access capital, control spend, and embed financial services.”

Designed to replace fragmented, legacy systems, Airwallex provides a unified platform for global financial operations—”providing everything from multi-currency business accounts to payments to spend management and embedded financial products.”

Founded in Melbourne and used by businesses worldwide—including TikTok, Rippling, Navan, Qantas, and SHEIN—Airwallex is “powering a new era of global banking without borders.”
