Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has collaborated closely with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) to develop and expand a specialized AI assistant. This initiative is reshaping daily operations for thousands of employees at headquarters and in delegations spanning more than 100 countries.
The project began in September 2025, with Accenture guiding DG INTPA through a comprehensive shift toward AI-enhanced workflows.
By March 2026, the custom-built platform went live, quickly gaining traction.
It now serves over 2,000 active users who have submitted more than 400,000 inquiries on diverse subjects, from intricate policy matters to funding allocations.
The system accelerates decision-making by tapping into vast stores of organizational knowledge, allowing personnel to focus on higher-value tasks such as critical evaluation, policy development, and long-term strategy.
What sets this AI assistant apart from generic solutions is its deep customization.
It incorporates the Directorate’s unique vocabulary, internal protocols, strategic objectives, and operational practices.
Advanced language models are securely linked to proprietary documents and data sources, supplemented by web access, to provide highly relevant, context-aware assistance for international development teams operating in varied global settings.
This tailored approach helps automate repetitive duties while preserving human oversight for nuanced judgment calls.

Development leveraged Accenture’s Brussels AI Lab, established in 2023 as a secure testing ground for public sector clients.

From the start, priorities included robust security measures, system reliability, ethical compliance, and responsible deployment.
A human-focused strategy guided the process, emphasizing staff training on judicious usage, output verification, and maintaining final human accountability as adoption widens.
This effort addresses a widespread issue in public administration.
According to Accenture studies, although 70 percent of government agencies have introduced sophisticated AI technologies, only 35 percent have invested substantially in workforce training to maximize their potential.
The DG INTPA collaboration aims to bridge this divide by empowering employees with tools that enhance analytical depth and strategic focus.
Future enhancements include the integration of agentic AI for executing specific procedural tasks, evolving beyond simple query responses to automated workflow support.
A formal feedback system will allow users to evaluate answers and submit comments, fostering continuous refinement.
DG INTPA has outlined numerous applications to weave the assistant deeper into essential processes, further reducing administrative burdens and amplifying strategic capacity.
