JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon Focuses on Addressing AI Risks with Key Appointments

JP Morgan Chase (NYSE:JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon is taking a leading role in assembling executives from banking and technology firms to confront emerging threats linked to artificial intelligence.

According to individuals familiar with the matter, the head of America’s largest bank has been contacting chief executives at major and regional financial institutions as well as IT companies, encouraging them to participate in an expanded industry coalition focused on AI-related vulnerabilities.

The effort builds on the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure, an organization that JPMorgan helped establish several years ago together with Mastercard, Berkshire Hathaway Energy and other partners.

Originally designed to improve coordination and resilience across essential sectors against cyber, physical and geopolitical dangers, the group is now shifting greater attention toward artificial intelligence.

Outreach began in July and has already involved more than 40 companies drawn from finance, energy, water systems, utilities, telecommunications, airlines, railroads and other technology-dependent fields that form the backbone of critical infrastructure.

The goal is to create a common framework for understanding how AI is currently deployed, identifying the new risks it introduces, and determining appropriate protective measures.

Participants also intend to collaborate with the current US administration on these matters.

Recent coordinated cyber incidents targeting water facilities in Minnesota and additional states have underscored the urgency of broader information sharing among industries that depend heavily on digital systems.

Dimon has repeatedly highlighted the dual-edged nature of advanced AI tools.

In public remarks earlier this year he compared unrestricted access to powerful models with handing out highly destructive weapons, stressing that strong controls must accompany technological progress.

The Alliance for Critical Infrastructure is positioned to function as a practical forum for industry members to exchange insights, surface problems early and develop joint responses, while remaining distinct from separate bank-led testing of specific frontier AI systems.

JPMorgan has described its involvement as supportive of work the Alliance leadership initiated some time ago.

The organization itself has emphasized that rising cyber threats make close cooperation between private-sector operators and government agencies essential for safeguarding systems that Americans rely on daily.

Organizers hope the refreshed structure will be fully operational by the end of the year.

The initiative arrives amid rapid AI adoption across corporate America and growing recognition that the technology can both strengthen and endanger critical operations.

By bringing together leaders from banking and IT alongside other infrastructure providers, Dimon’s outreach seeks to move beyond siloed approaches and establish shared situational awareness and practical safeguards. As businesses continue integrating AI into everyday processes, such cross-industry collaboration is viewed as a necessary step toward managing risks that no single company or sector can address alone.
