Binance.US Eyes $1B Valuation in New Funding Round to Compete with Coinbase and Kraken in US Markets

Binance.US, the U.S.-focused cryptocurrency trading platform, is reportedly exploring a new private capital raise of as much as $100 million that would value the company at approximately $1 billion.

According to people familiar with the confidential discussions, the potential round is intended to strengthen the exchange’s domestic operations at a time of heightened competition for U.S. digital asset customers.

The targeted valuation marks a substantial reset from the firm’s earlier financing. In April 2022, Binance.US completed a seed round that brought in more than $200 million at a pre-money valuation of $4.5 billion.

The sharp reduction reflects the platform’s subsequent loss of market position after Binance Holdings Ltd. reached a major settlement with U.S. authorities in 2023.

That episode disrupted banking relationships and trading activity for the U.S. entity, prompting a multi-year effort to rebuild.

Launched in 2019, Binance.US functions as a separate company from the global Binance exchange, although co-founder Changpeng Zhao remains a significant shareholder in both.

The platform has worked to restore core capabilities, including the resumption of U.S. dollar deposits and withdrawals via ACH transfers earlier in 2025.

Under Chief Executive Stephen Gregory, who assumed the role in March 2026, management has emphasized compliance, fee reductions, and expanded product access as part of its recovery strategy.

The proposed funding would support several expansion priorities.

These include efforts to restore certain state money-transmitter licenses, which would broaden geographic coverage, and the evaluation of external liquidity sources that could potentially draw from the international Binance platform.

No final decisions on liquidity arrangements have been reached.

Binance.US has also previously examined entry into prediction markets, with leadership indicating plans to pursue a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) license for event contracts and related derivatives products.

The timing of the fundraising coincides with a more accommodative U.S. regulatory climate for digital assets.

Established domestic platforms are adding services while some offshore operators seek greater access to American users.

In this environment, Binance.US is positioning itself to recapture share from larger competitors such as Coinbase and Kraken, which currently command stronger market positions in spot and related trading.

World Liberty Financial, the cryptocurrency venture associated with President Donald Trump, was informed of the discussions but is not participating, according to people familiar with the matter.

Spokespeople for both Binance.US and World Liberty declined to comment.

The size of the raise, the valuation, and the ultimate investor composition remain subject to change as talks continue.

A successful close would provide capital for product development, licensing initiatives, and competitive positioning after years of regulatory and operational headwinds. Whether the $1 billion target attracts sufficient interest will depend on investor assessments of the platform’s compliance progress, revenue trajectory, and ability to differentiate itself in a crowded U.S. exchange landscape.
