Bottom Line: Businesses, groups find new ways to raise money

This column, which began one year ago this month, often focuses on the various trends that affect one’s, ahem, bottom line.

But in honor of the holidays and the first anniversary of The Bottom Line, today’s column will highlight some of the things businesses and organizations are doing to give back and how you can help.

In a spin on the whole crowd-funding phenomenon, several hospitals throughout the country, including Children’s Hospital Orange County and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles are participating in www.GiveMiracles.org. The site is the first crowd-funded hospital gift catalog campaign and was created by fundraising website Fundly and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
