Payments Summit – Sao Paolo

September 18 - September 20

EBANX, global company specializing in payments for rising markets, will hold the seventh edition of its Payments Summit, taking place in the city of São Paulo, in Brazil, from September 18th to 20th. This year’s Payments Summit brings together world-leading experts to discuss recent developments and forecast trends that will shape the digital economy and the payments landscape of the future. Rising markets such as Africa and Latin America will be at the center stage in these discussions.

Keynote speakers lineup will gather high-level executives of institutions and companies such as Microsoft, Uber, Sony, Canva, Ozow, Mastercard, the Central Bank of Brazil, Banorte, and Itaú Unibanco, which is also the event’s partner for this year.

Alexandre Zancani, Executive Committee member, and Rubens Fogli, Head of Payments at Itaú Unibanco, the most valuable bank in Latin America, will walk the audience through the future of cards amidst the rapid rise of e-wallets, instant payments, and super apps – how will cards position themselves in the payments industry and the digital economy in light of these trends? In the same line, Mastercard’s executives Kiki Del Valle, EVP of Market Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, and Gaurang Shah, Head of Products EMEA, will conduct a discussion on how cards can shape the future of payments by integrating with alternative payments, focusing on Latin America and Africa’s perspectives.

Carlos Brandt, Head of Pix Management and Operation at the Central Bank of Brazil, speaks about what’s next for the Brazilian instant payment system that is less than three-years old and already used by more than 75% of the population. The roadmap includes features like recurrency, that will revolutionize businesses like the ones that work with subscription models, for instance.

Global technology companies will be sharing insights into their approaches for rising markets: how they are exploring specific growth strategies, user experience enhancements, and tailored roadmap plans. They will also dive into how payments, often viewed as mere transactions, are effectively impacting their businesses and revolutionizing the digital economy in highly innovative sectors like online games, ride hailing, streaming, and SaaS.

The President for Google Cloud Latin America at Google, Eduardo Lopez, will talk about the challenges in operating a SaaS vertical in rising markets, and how the localization strategy of the tech giant is addressing those challenges in Latin America. Emmanuel Got, Head of Payments for Latin America, and Tristan Kirchner, Head of Commerce EMEA at Uber, and Jose Mas, Head of Payments at Sony, will each present how local payment methods influence the success case of the two companies across LatAm in ride hailing and gaming verticals.

Kesheni Moodley, Chief Commercial Officer of Ozow, will present how cards and Instant EFTs are the two pillars of South Africa’s digital payments, a country where the digital economy’s value is expected to surpass USD 31 billion by 2025, according to Accenture, via Google/IFC.

Tania Consentino, General Manager at Microsoft Brasil, will talk about how AI is changing the global digital economy and the way people consume for good. Edu Lyra, Founder and CEO of Gerando Falcões, will shed light on how favelas are playing a significant role in driving digital economy growth in Brazil and Latin America, emerging as true hubs of innovation in the region.

With a comprehensive operation across Latin America and Africa, EBANX has established itself as a global payment sector player within its 11 years of existence. Its robust, proprietary payments platform serves global merchants from various verticals like SaaS, digital games, streaming, digital ads, ride-hailing and online retail, offering reach and depth in payments coverage across two of the fastest-growing digital markets in the world – Africa and LatAm –, where digital buyers will grow at a CAGR of 8.2% and 6.6% by 2026, in a population of over 1.4 billion and 650 million, respectively. Among the attendees confirmed for this year’s Payments Summit, are executives from Adobe, AliExpress, ByteDance, Coinbase, Disney+, Expedia, Garena, Huawei, Pinterest, Revolve, Roku, Braintree, Shopee, Spotify, Tencent, Virgin Atlantic, Xsolla, and Zoom.
