Venice, California based Crowdfunder, a crowdfunding platform for businesses and Social Media Week LA (SMWLA) have partnered to create CROWDFUNDxLA an online competition for LA based start-ups. Top local investors and accelerators are participating in this event. Some of the supporters include: Dave Travers of Rustic Canyon Ventures, LaunchPad LA, Jonathan Teo from General Catalyst, Julia Dilts from Maverick Angels and more.
The competition is designed to identify 10 start-ups from the Los Angeles area to pitch at a live event on September 25th. The grand prize is $100,000 plus a crowdfunding round on Crowdfunder with access to Crowdfunder’s network of 600+ accredited investors and funds. Submissions will be accepted for this event up to September 13th. Last year Divshot won, was accepted into LaunchpadLA, and had a successful VC led $1.2M round less than a year later.
“CROWDFUNDxLA aligns perfectly with the SMWLA mission to celebrate organizations poised at the intersection of innovation and creativity,” said Drew Baldwin, executive director of SMWLA. “By highlighting Southern California’s most visionary entrepreneurs, our event provides a unique platform to connect investors with rising startups.
