JumpStarter has announced they have reached out to SpaceX to feature Elon Musk’s Hyperloop concept on their recently launched crowdfunding platform – JumpStartFund. The Hyperloop “project,” which is live on the site, will go through the platform’s standard “evolutionary” processes, where registered users vote, comment, vet, refine, and impact ideas in development – from conception to funding.
The Hyperloop which Musk claims will cost only $6 Billion to construct has been estimate to cost exponentially more by many others. The mass transportion device would be designed to move passengers around at speeds up to 760 miles per hour. California has talked about developing a high speed train and estimated costs for that project range around $70 billion.
Needless to say launching a crowdfunding campaign of this potential magnitude is a great way to capture the attention of the crowdfunding masses. While Musk’s project has many merits and has been lauded for its creativity and audacity crowdfunding the Hyperloop is probably not a near term reality.
