Renata Shamrakova who was convicted of stealing from Todd Meister while working as his personal assistant in 2011 has been ordered to pay up – or go to jail. The sentencing judge has given the Ukrainian beauty 2 weeks to pay at least half of the required amount. If Shamrakova’s crowdfunding campaign is indicative of her resources it looks like she is on her way to jail.
According to reports, 28 year old Shamrakova will face one to three years in jail. Earlier this year in an effort to be able to repay the stolen funds, Shamrakova launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $821,000. As of today her campaign has raised only $335.00 from ten people over the past four months.
Shamrakova claimed on her comments that thousands of people had viewed her call for help on GoFundMe but unfortunately her story was not compelling enough to generate significant donations. Shamrakova had admitted she made mistakes while “in a vulnerable state, financially and emotionally”.
Apparently Shamrakova’s parents have put their home up for sale to help her avoid “such a devastating fate come December”. Shamrakova’s over 15,000 twitter followers apparently have not come to her aid either.
Shamrakova admitted to using two American Express credit cards in Todd Meister’s name to take trips to such locations like the Caribbean, France and Italy. Shamrakova is also reported to be engaged and is expecting to be married if she avoids jail.
